Labrador Retrievers - B. Kellner, breeder:
I have been showing and breeding Labrador Retrievers
since 1971. I am the President of Sporting Dog Fanciers of New Mexico,
a pure breed dog club for owners and fanciers of sporting dogs. My
Labrador dogs are shown in AKC Conformation
events and I have bred or co-bred over 70 champion
Labradors. Lab dogs I have owned
and bred have competed successfully in AKC conformation and obedience
events. Eleven of our Labradors have
become assistance dogs. It takes a special kind of Labrador
Retriever to do this for disabled individuals. Several of our
Labs have been wheelchair assistance
dogs — doing everything from picking up items that are dropped, to
calling 911 for rescue when their person has fallen out of the chair.
Several of our labradors have been social
assistants to shy, disabled children that are mainstreaming in school,
and one is a seizure alert dog. All of our Labrador
Retrievers are wonderful companions to their people.
All
of my labrador puppy litter-care is carefully
planned. Sires and dams are selected based on soundness, temperament,
breed conformation and most importantly good health. I have litters
only when I plan to keep something to continue to improve my Labrador
line. Each Lab dog selected for my breeding
program has OFA hip and elbow clearances, current eye clearances (CERF
and Optigen), a heart clearance and an Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC)
clearance. Each litter is whelped and raised in the house to ensure
our Labrador puppies have the best care,
and are well socialized. Labrador breeding
stock is from AKC conformation champion lines, not field trial lines.
I strive to breed a lovable Labrador
companion dog that is content to sleep at your feet or go for a walk
or retrieve a ball or frisbee. Some of the Labs
I've bred have earned junior or senior hunting titles. Many of the
champions in the pedigree are Labrador dogs
I've bred, trained and showed.
Labrador
Puppies
are sold on a limited registration, with an occasional exception for
an approved show home. My Lab puppies
are never sold for breeding purposes only.
